3rd Edition of Infectious Diseases World Conference 2027

Scientific Sessions - IDWC 2027

Infectious Diseases in Immunocompromised Patients

Immune-compromised patients are especially susceptible to infections as their immunity can be suppressed due to an underlying condition, immunosuppressant drugs, transplantation, oncology treatment, etc. Infectious complications in such patients may develop quickly and may be caused by opportunistic organisms that normally cause only mild disease in healthy individuals. This session is devoted to problems related to infection risk assessment, diagnostics, prophylactics, and therapy in immune-compromised populations.

Topics that will be discussed during the session include infections in transplant recipients, patients who receive chemotherapy, immunomodulating treatment, and those with immune deficiency. Among the issues that will be covered will be opportunistic fungi, viral reactivation, resistant bacterial infections, prophylactics, vaccinations, and individual diagnostics. In addition, the session will pay special attention to the impact of immune function changes on the disease process and to how infectious complications can be distinguished from complications due to immunosuppression.

Scientists, infectious disease specialists, hematologists, oncologists, transplantologists, and clinical microbiologists are invited to submit research related to infections in vulnerable patient groups. The studies may concentrate on early diagnosis, risk prediction, prophylactic treatment, multi-disciplinary approach to treatment, and novel treatments.
