3rd Edition of Infectious Diseases World Conference 2027

Scientific Sessions - IDWC 2027

Fungal Infections and Antifungal Resistance

Infections from fungi have been on the rise in the field of medicine especially among the immuno-compromised patients, critical patients and patients who undergo long-term stay in hospitals. Fungal infections that have invaded deeply can cause various complications for the infected individuals. The rise in the problem of anti-fungal resistance makes clinical management difficult and underlines the need for prompt diagnosis and proper treatment.

The topics covered in this particular session will be about the epidemiology of invasive fungal infections, antifungal resistance mechanisms and patterns of antifungal susceptibility. These topics will encompass resistant Candida species, Candida auris, azole-resistant Aspergillus and antifungal therapy selection. The participants will learn more about the use of laboratory testing, identification and antifungal susceptibility testing in antifungal therapy management.

There will also be discussions on new antifungal drug development, antifungal stewardship, infection prevention and surveillance. The experts will provide insight into approaches that help to improve diagnostic accuracy, treatment choice and prevention of spread of resistant fungi in health care facilities.
