Artificial Intelligence in Infectious Disease Prediction and Diagnosis

AI and machine learning have opened up new ways of studying complicated infectious disease data and making decisions based on the findings. Such technologies are capable of helping scientists make sense of the data found in patients’ medical histories, laboratory findings, pathogens’ genomes, and epidemiological observations. This presentation is dedicated to applications of artificial intelligence in predicting the development of diseases, supporting diagnostics, predicting outbreaks, and coming up with evidence-based approaches to managing infectious diseases.

Among other things, this presentation will cover the use of machine-learning algorithms for the purposes of identifying high-risk patients, AI-assisted reading of medical images, automated laboratory analysis, genome data classification, and disease transmission prediction models. It will also consider the use of digital health technology, electronic medical records, and real-time surveillance data. Special emphasis will be placed on such issues as model accuracy and validation, privacy of the analyzed data, algorithm bias, model interpretability, and the dangers associated with automated prediction not based on proper clinical evaluation.

Medical informatics, epidemiology, computer science, microbiology, and infectious diseases researchers are invited to share their research. Submissions may include topics on the development, validation, and clinical application of AI-related tools as well as implementation challenges. This session hopes to promote innovation and collaboration across disciplines so that AI can help improve early detection, clinical decision-making, and public health responses.
